Flash Animation

Posted by anjidu - November 9th, 2012

So, I have always wanted to do flash animation, but I never had the programs. My brother got me the programs a little bit ago and I messed with them for a while, and after an hour of feeling incompetent *kinda like I was just smashing my face repeatedly into my screen; because that is about how much work I got done in that hour* I finally watched some tutorials, and got a slight idea how to work the damned thing. Any~who, back to my story. I have always wanted to make an animation to the story of a very old play *turned into a very old movie* "Bell, Book, and Candle". Yes, it is overly girly, and Yes, I have a vagina so I absolutely love it, and will try my best to find a way to make it*. I was wondering if I had to change a lot of stuff for me to make it, or if I can just make it as is. I know about copyright and all that stuff, but I dont know how that will leak through into creating an animation. I am not saying this thing is going to come out anytime soon. It may never come out; because of work and voice acting and a mixture of other things I like to say when I am just feeling lazy. But still I would like to hear if you guys know anything about it, and I want to know if you guys think it would be something of interest to anyone. I dont want to bore people, but I will not change the core of the story; because I believe it to be absolutely wonderful.

SO TLDR

Can you animate a story that isn't yours, but was made as a play, and turned into a movie?

AND

Do you think anyone would even really care to watch an animation that is really girly on newgrounds?

Don't worry about it - as long as you give credit to the source material(s), and don't try and make a buck off it, they'll leave you alone, I'm sure. But you can copyright your animation and vocals... contradictory, isn't it?
As for the content, durr yes. Girly is under-represented across the board. And from over a decade of coming to this site, I found girls make the most interesting and engaging works here.

Oh, wow, really!? Okies, I guess no worries then, and yeah that is really strange actually. I really hope I dont disappoint anyone when/if I make this. Still iffy on my drawing skills, but I feel I will get better while making the animation.

I know it is already answered:

Yes you can by giving credit and not gaining money which parodies use in their protection. If I'm animating Macbeth play then I need to credit Shakespeare for example and not gain money from it.

Depends on what you define girly? Does my little pony count because there were alot of that even if they were different genres of my little pony. You might consider your audience or maybe just risk it (You usually lose nothing but time.) and see how they react.

No, not like MLP. It is a love story, and written in the 30's, or something, so it is cheesy ^.^

Well I have a penis and I still would watch it. I'd wouldn't be able to acknowledge it when watching said movie, but meh.

BTW, it was refreshing to hear your work in TOME Episode 5. Loved it. Also, you sounded slightly older in there than in the earlier eps (Not in a bad way, tho). Either way, good job mate!

The animating of a story; you're in a "legal gray area, assuming its fan made.

And for watching a "girly" thing; why not? Newgrounds is pretty jacked up anyway; art is art.
